Last night, a man who I’ve known for quite sometime was killed by a tree falling on him while cutting firewood. Like others I know, he was one who many times had come to our local ministry for financial help, and he never seemed to get out of the poverty trap. Like those others, I had many opportunities to share the Gospel to him and like many others had said that he had asked the Lord to save him years before. I have hopes that he did, however, it was rare to see him at God’s house, and I understand he was struggling with an addiction. None the less, I still counted him as a friend.
Like so many of us, he had those stumbling blocks that would often trip us up to sin. I’m no exception. Neither is anyone who’s called on the Lord Jesus to save them. Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Everyone, please remember that we all have an appointment with eternity. How we face our maker is of the utmost importance. How will we meet him and with what report? Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
So long my friend. I have hopes of seeing you again in Glory.
