Do babies go to heaven? And what are your scriptural backups on the subject?
Josh Lamb
Yes Josh, babies go to heaven. Here’s the first scriptural evidence. In 2nd Samuel, we see where king David’s newborn son had died, and while the child was dying, David was fasting and praying to God for his child. 2nd Samuel 12:22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? 12:23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. David realized there was no longer a need to fast because the child had passed away, but notice in verse 23 he says: “But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” David knew that he was a child of God and when he died, he’d be with the Lord. He also realized that he’d be with his child because that child was in Paradise.
Another good example would come from the New Testament. Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. A baby doesn’t understand the law. They’re too young and haven’t learned right from wrong! How can a baby that doesn’t understand being lost, be held accountable by a righteous God? James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
