About Parsons Corner

The Parsons Corner was established in 1995, originally as a dial-up BBS and a Question & Answer radio show called “The Parsons Corner ~ Ask the Preacher” on WENR radio in Etowah, Tennessee. By the end of 1995, the ministry transitioned to the internet at www.coconet.com/~tj, and in 1996, the website moved to parsonscorner.8m.com. In 2006, the domain parsonscorner.org was purchased, and we’ve continued to grow from there.

My name is Timothy J. Davis. I was born in April 1958 and was born-again in 1967. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” I am the youngest of three boys, born to William and Aretta Davis.

In January 1976, I married Connie Ann Matthews (Born Again 1967). Over the years, she has blessed me with five children, and today, we have 14 wonderful grandchildren, each one precious to me. Proverbs 22:6 teaches us, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

I served in the U.S. Navy in the mid-1970s and lived in the beautiful East Tennessee Valley, surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains. I worked as a deputy sheriff for McMinn County, an architectural designer, and I taught architecture online. 1st Timothy 5:8 reminds us, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

As a preacher’s kid, I grew up surrounded by the example of faithful service. My father, William H. Davis, my grandfather, John Henry Davis, and my great-grandfather, George Morgan Davis, were all preachers. I pray to follow their example and remain faithful to God’s calling, just as they did. Luke 1:72 speaks of God’s mercy, “To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant.”

My spiritual journey was shaped by years of study and teaching under my grandfather, and later, Dr. Marvin Frady of Calvary Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia. Through their guidance, I learned the importance of rightly dividing the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15) and the rich history of the Baptist faith.

Although I knew I had a calling to preach from an early age, it wasn’t until 1996 that I publicly answered that call. I was ordained in 1999 at Pope Ave. Baptist Church in Athens, marking the start of my first pastorate. Mark 16:15 says, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” and I have made this my mission.

The Parsons Corner was born from this calling, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of sharing the Word of God through this ministry. I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned and for the continued opportunity to serve. As it says in 2nd Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Thank you for visiting. Keep the questions coming, and may God bless you in your journey to strengthen faith.
