Prayer
Ask your question at the Bottom of the
Page.
Q. How do you know that God answers prayer and that the things you want to
happen aren't going to happen anyway? (Mary)
A. First what we do we want to happen. Is it my will or Gods will.
Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell
on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this
cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Notice
what Jesus said in John 14:11 Believe me that I am
in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works'
sake. 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the
works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father. 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14:14 If ye
shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
The emphasis of answered prayer here is on works that glorify God, and are
conserning His will, prayers for the lost, backsliding, healing, etc. Verse
11 stresses belief, faith, in who Jesus is. 1st. John
5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any
thing according to his will, he heareth us: Prayer must be according
to his will. Sometimes we hinder our own prayers. lst
Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting. If I doubt, or pray in anger God will
not answer my prayer, I must have faith, and pray with the right attitude.
James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall
be forgiven him. 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for
another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous
man availeth much.
The last thing is that I must have a clean heart, sins forgiven, and confessed
to Jesus (lst John 1:9) before I can even aproach the throne of Grace. Always
keep in mind Romans 8:28 And we know that all things
work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose., Also, his will is for our good. I hope
this has been a help. May God bless you,

Q. How do you pray to God? Cause I don't really know how to? [Alan]
A. If you like I'll break it down for you Alan.
-
Pray in private those prayers which are private between you and the Living
God: Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter
into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which
is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee
openly.
-
You don't need to repeat yourself over and over again! tell the Lord whats
on your heart. He'll hear you the first time: Matthew
6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they
think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father
knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
-
Pray in this manner:
-
Matthew 6:9: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
-
Recognize God for Who He is and Glorify Him as He deserves to be Glorified!
-
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in
earth, as it is in heaven.
-
Tell the Father you are looking for the coming of His Great Kingdom and express
your desire that His Will be above even your own will.
-
Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
-
Next, pray for your needs. Tell the Lord what it is you want and believe
He will give it to you if it's His Will to do so.
-
Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors.
-
Here is an all important part!!! Asking for forgiveness for the wrong doing
that you have done. I personally like to list each sin I have committed to
the Lord to show myself that I am aware of the trespasses and am more than
willing to be repentant of them.
-
Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for
ever. Amen.
-
Ask the Lord to keep you away from anything that will pull you away from
Him and His Will for your life. Then Glorify Him again as He so well deserves.
The Last thing is "Amen" which means you believe what you have just prayed.
Alan, before you pray the above type prayer my friend, you must first make
sure that God "is" your Heavenly Father. He isn't if you haven't accepted
the free gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Romans
10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved. 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
