The Parson between two shipmates in Navy Boot Camp (1975)
On the pier in LaMadellena Sardenia (1976)
The USS Howard
W. Gilmore AS 16. The first of the surface ships I was attached to after
Submarine School in the Navy. There was a great love I had for this old
ship.
USS Parche SSN 683 next the the USS Whale moored to The USS Howard W. Gilmore
AS 16. Can't say much except the Parche was one of my Sewer Pipe Taxi's.
She was later retrofit as a SEAL boat in the Pacific fleet.
The famous USS Nautilus SSN-571. The US Navy's first nuke submarine tied
along side The Gilmore with the USS Los Angeles on the starboard side of
her. She was the most cramped Sewer Pipe Taxi in the Navy.
The USS Mount Whitney LCC 20. The second of the surface ships I was attached
to in the Navy.
The USS Ponce LPD 15. The third of the surface ships I was attached to in
the Navy for the remainder of my active duty.
Believe it or not, the Parson was a wrecker driver in Smyrna, Georgia for
about 10 years in the 1980's. This is a photo of Big Brother, the large
wrecker I drove for Barrow Wrecker service.
