Q. Is christian rock music wrong? [Anon]

A. Is it? As I stated below this question "Why should we dishonor our Lord with anything that is in its very nature, disrespectful, disgracing, or in any way linked to crime, drugs, sex, or violence? ". Rock and roll has many different categories. To most it's the easy on the ears soft rock but to a few its the acid rock that in its nature is very violent and disrespectful. Are we as christians to be considered Violent and disrespectful or timid and calm in the security of our Lord. Read the following passages and judge for yourself. Pay attention to the underlined sentences.

2nd Chronicals 5:12: Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) 5:13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord;

Romans 15:9: And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. 15:10 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

All that I see in the scriptures teach us that our songs are to be praises unto God. These songs are to be uplifting for the joy that is ours through Jesus Christ. The Hard or Acid Rock "Christian Music" isn't what it say's it is because its very nature is violent. If it's violent, it's evil. Plain and simple.

The following passage is speaking of eating meat that has been sacrificed to idols but defiantly applies here! Romans 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 14:15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 14:16: Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

Q. What is your opinion on contemporary christian music? [Anon]

A. As long as you can tell the difference between the worlds music and the Lords music, I have no problem with it. As the Psalmist said " Make a joyful noise unto God"

I do have a problem with those groups that associate Gospel music with Acid Rock or Gangster Rap. Why should we dishonor our Lord with anything that is in its very nature, disrespectful, disgracing, or in any way linked to crime, drugs, sex, or violence? This I believe brings an open shame that should not be.
