Q. Why did the Jews reject Christ? [Jimmy Cates]
A. Because He wasn't what they expected Jimmy. They were looking for the
Redeemer to come as a Mighty Lion and not as a Meek Lamb for the Sacrifice!

Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of
the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 11:2 And the
spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear
of the Lord; 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of
the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove
after the hearing of his ears: 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge
the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall
smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips
shall he slay the wicked. 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his
loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Daniel:9:25: Know therefore and understand, that from
the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto
the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:
the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 9:26
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city
and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the
end of the war desolations are determined.
The Hebrew children were again in bondage! This time to the Roman Empire.
It was inconceivable to them that the purpose of the Lord was to send the
Redeemer as the final sacrifice for sins! They thought he would come as the
Might Warrior to end their bondage!
It would have probably have been the best if they had payed attention to
the Prophet Isaiah when he completely described what was really to take place
at the coming of Messiah!

Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom
is the arm of the Lord revealed? 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as
a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should
desire him. 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised,
and we esteemed him not. 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried
our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes
we are healed. 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every
one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers
is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 53:8 He was taken from prison and from
judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of
the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death;
because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 53:10
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou
shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall
prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by
his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear
their iniquities. 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out
his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare
the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
The best I can tell, this is the most identifying verses of scripture I can
find of what our Savior did on our behalf! To be honest though, if they had
really realized who they were crucifying, the deed would have never been
done!
