Fallow Ground

Hello my name is Victor from Malaysia. I would to know more about Hosea. Sow for yourselves righteousness Reap in mercy Break up your fallow ground For it is time to seek the Lord Till He comes and rains righteousness on you. Could you please explain whats the meaning of this verse.

First lets look at the word “fallow” as it’s used in this verse. “Hosea 10:12: Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” For a farmer to make fallow ground, he first plows it then leaves it alone for a season or two to let it get a chance to recover from all the planting that’s been done on it. This is in order for the weeds to die out and for the soil to become productive again. And it’s so true with our Christian lives! Sometimes we have to prepare ourselves with the Word of God (The Plow), and then wait on the Lord to plant for the harvest when He sees fit.
