Christian Ethics

Dear Pastor, May the Lord bless you and your Ministry, always! Should you have the time, I will appreciate very much any consideration over the subject: “Christian ethics”, or “the ethics in the Christian Ministry.” Is there a situation where the people in charge of the business part of a church, sustained that “there is NOT such a thing as christian ethics in the fulfillment of their ministry.” If possible, I’ll appreciate any additional consideration over the subject.

Thank you for whatever you can do and may the Lord keep on walking with you. In the love of Christ,

Tony

Brother Tony, there’s certainly such a thing as “Christian Ethics” or “the Ethics in the Christian Ministry.” Just because we’re in the protected doors of the church, doesn’t mean that the rules of right and wrong laid down by the Savior are left at the door. Especially in Church business. Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 12:13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Lets break this down.

  • 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. In the church body, just the same as out in the world with the brethren, we’re to be of Like Minded. Without dissimulation. (agreeing) Hating evil and holding on to that which is good and honest.
  • 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;  Showing our love for one another with open affection and actually going out of our way to be in each others company in Christ Jesus.
  • 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Being willing to work and exert ourselves, showing warmth and compassion towards one another in the Holy Spirit as servants of the Living God should.
  • 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Letting it be openly known that we have Joy in our Salvation, being patient when the storms come from within and without, and going into prayer mode as often as needed.
  • 12:13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Making sure everyone is taken care of and no one is in need, which is the duty of the church, making all feel welcome, and even opening your home if need be.

Seems like we’re to be Ethical no matter where and what we’re doing as a child of God!
